Where did August go???

I don't know how I can have a calendar that looks like this:

yet have so few pictures to share. I missed so many photo's and events this month: family gatherings (both sides of our families), my Mom's birthday (HAPPY BIRTHDAY MOM), a garage sale with some awesomely fun friends and with all that written on the calendar there is more I am sure I missed too!

This summer was a summer that taught the lesson in the saying "the best laid plans..." (which the meaning of the phrase itself it quite interesting - you can read it here), but we adapted to lots of change and most of all enjoyed all of the moments we shared with each-other and others.

One big event missed this summer was the visit we had with Grandpa Bill & Grandma Cindy who stayed with us for a few days and took the girls one day on quite the adventure. The girls painted pottery (well, Grandpa and Syrah did Sadie made some amazing art out of glass). Then they went fishing for the very first time. At the start of summer the girls made a list of things they wanted to do this summer and "fishing with Grandpa Bill" was on this list... well, now they get to check that one off:

Here they are before the fishing fun started (thanks to Grandpa for taking this picture with his phone).

Syrah snagged a BIG fish; so much so that Grandpa had to take over cause the fish was pulling on her so hard. Unfortunately the line eventually got stuck on a log, so they never got to see how big it was, but Syrah is still pretty excited about it!!

We had plans to go to the Aquasox (minor league baseball and a ton of fun) this summer, but it never happened (even with tickets in hand). However, we didn't have plans to go to the Mariner's Game and that did happen:

It's been a long time since the girls have gone and they were both excited, not to mention the seats we were given (Thanks to Uncle Daren) were awesome!!

Serious HOT DOG! wow!

With the end of summer come fall soccer; practices started a few weeks ago:

Team meeting with the coach!

All kids are ready for drills!

Syrah taking a break after a long practice.
I had a goal to get our Disneyland scrapbooks done (each girl is making her own) before summer was over...

yes, that says 2007! We made it about half way through, so this goal won't be met, but we will get them done in due time (whatever that means).

So as we turn the page to September this week, we say goodbye to summer!

Catching up

We have had a busy week since Ava arrived, but she is adjusting well, the cat is adjusting and everyone is settling into a routine!

So, lets get through last week first and then go from there. Wednesday Sadie started a second session of Art class; due to some of the medical stuff going on she missed a few weeks in the last session, but she is excited that she was invited to attend again. I wanted to share one of her pieces from last session.
This is a still life and was drawn with chalk.

Last Thursday was Syrah's first Kindergarten concert. I took a good balance of pictures to video, but picking one song to share it hard.

Syrah on stage before the performance started.

Do I post the video of one of the cutest songs or the one where when we watched it we realized Syrah and her friend Lexi kept holding hands (which we didn't notice during the concert).

In the end I choose the one where Syrah and Lexi kept holding hands... it is a super cute song too. The kids sang about 9 songs which was a lot to remember for those little ones and they all did a great job!

Of course with the addition of Ava to the family we have to share a picture of her week here:

Ava all tuckered out. No pictures of Ava and Molly together just yet, but we are approaching the days of them having a lifelong friendship.

We have had some questions on details about Ava. Ava was in a home situation where their dynamic changed and they could no longer care for her. She we be a year old on March 15th and she is part mini-pincher, schnauzer and chihuahua. The only chihuahua is her ears... she has a very spunky personality and is very well trained (all ready house broken, can sit, stay and sometimes lay-down). Billy has been working hard on getting her more lease trained - she pulls pretty good for such a tiny one, but all ready she is doing much better on the leash then when we first got her. Being that she is approaching her first birthday we must say she still has quite a bit of puppy in her, but it is fun that we get some puppy with the perks of a year old dog. The girls love her! Ava sleeps in Sadie's room and greets both girls with exuberant joy in the mornings. Ava and Molly have even been playing a bit here and there and are almost always in each others company (at a distance, Molly requests her space).

On Sunday Billy's Aunt Tracy came over with her family for dinner as payment to cut our hair (and it is super fun to catch up with her and her family!). The big surprise was that Syrah really wanted to cut her hair short... so we said sure.

Look at all the hair she is holding!

Syrah with her new hair cut!

And this only gets us through Sunday of last week. Since that time I celebrated a birthday, had a great lunch with my Dad, Kelly and my Grandma. Enjoyed a super fun, full of laughter dinner with my family, Mom, brother and Lauren.

We also had the opportunity to celebrate the birthday of our dear friends and amazing young man Micah.

Micah blowing out the candle!!! Happy Birthday Micah, we love you!

It has been a full few weeks! Thanks for letting us catch up!!

Long between updates, again...

Our lack of posting has been mainly due to the fact we haven't had a lot to report (which is nice sometimes). Two weeks ago Sadie had her first band performance which was fun to watch. There were so many kids involved in band, it was nice to see.

Sadie in on the clarinet.

Here is a short sample of one of the songs they did called "Surprise Symphony" by Joseph Hayden. What was really fun is that as soon as they started to play this song Syrah said "hey, I know this song" and she started to giggle because she knew what the surprise was. Their music teacher does a great job of teaching them of many different composers and the history behind why they wrote the songs they did.

Besides band concerts we haven't had a lot going on... we had to postpone some friends coming over because I feel ill with the flu, but we were able to have them over for dinner last night and it was a great time!

For those of you who read our blog and are not from the area; we are getting more snow. It started last night and left us a nice covering over night. Then today it has pretty much been snowing all day and it feels VERY cold outside. I will say, it is beautiful, but we are hopeful it doesn't turn into what is was last month (sounds like this should be going away fairly soon).

Hopefully the updates will be sooner than later.

Strange email...

This morning at 11:26 I received a very strange email, I thought I would share it with you all. Here is what it said:

Hello, do you remember me? You put pictures on me, you write lovely things about your days and share them with your family and friends!!! I miss you and wish that you would give me some attention. I know you have children, a husband and job, I am just asking that you try to sneak me in a little on the side….. missing you, Love YOUR BLOG

I had NO idea that when you neglected the BLOG it had feelings, but I guess it is somewhat flattering to know my computer misses me! I wish I had some exciting news to share as to what we have been up to the last nine days, but really, I don't. We stayed up together on New Year's Eve (ever notice that it is easy to stay up until midnight on accident, but when you are trying to stay up it is very difficult). We did some projects around the house (Billy finished painting some rooms, we hung pictures, re-arranged shelving to make room for the growing number of books the girls have). We enjoyed the last few days of winter break... stayed up a bit later, woke up a bit later, just generally enjoyed being together. This last week we have been working hard to get back into the routine of getting up to an alarm clock and getting out the door in an organized and timely manner.

Last weekend we did get to have one last Christmas celebration at my moms to have some time with my brother Eric and his wife Lauren, who were in Lauren's home town of Nashville, TN over Christmas. We were surprised to be witnessing even more snow come down on that day and Eric got his white Christmas as he had wanted (kinda!).

Eric (check out those fogged up glasses) and Billy after making a trip to the car in the snow!!!

I am glad to say we are getting a break from the snow, but sure have been hit with some wind and rain since... please continue to pray for those that are affected by flooding (which are many!).

I would like to thank my blog for motivating me to get back here... I will do my best to update more often and not go 9-10 days absent!

Behind on the blog...

Bear with me for being so behind... I think I have four or five posts that will come up today with happenings around here since we got back from Hawaii. Our lives actually slowed down a bit and we just did our best to enjoy some of that down time. Bill's been working hard on the garage and as of yesterday, both cars fit in our two car garage!!! We have cleared out closets as we come upon a chiller season and we have just had some lazy days around the house. We have done some painting and some re-organizing of some areas that were still needing some TLC after the move in. As you will see there has been some visitors and some celebrations in the midst of those times too. All and all we have enjoyed our family, friends and the last moments of summer that we have been gifted with this year!

The Lord has done great things for us; We are glad ~Psalm 126:3
Glory be to God!

On to catching up...

Long between updates...

There are no new photos to share... things here have been quite busy yet very slow. Syrah has been battling one sickness after another and finally seems to get getting well again. We have been able to have dinner with some family and friends here and there. The end of the school year activity's have started. It's a busy time of year, with lots to do, but not so much worthy of pictures yet (that is a way of me not taking accountability for not having the camera ready). We have some fun exciting things ahead and look forward to sharing soon.
Happy last day of April!

house hunting

Haven't had any time to post; nor have I taken a single picture to share. We have started house hunting. We are in it now and activly looking for the place we will soon call home.
Keep checking back for updates on this wild adventure!
Seriously though, in the midst of house hunting (which does take a lot of time); we have had a few laid back days here and there. We have shared meals with friends and with family and have even had some time to curl up and watch a movie (whow!).
Hopefully we will have some pictures to share with you soon!

Quite is Good

We haven’t been up to much, hence the lack of photos! Last week we really enjoyed the fact that Sadie had a little more time home from school and in that also went to a few appointments. Saturday we had lunch with some family we haven't visted with in a long time and then we went to Billy's aunts house and enjoyed some time with family that we don’t' often get the opportunity to spend much time with. Sunday we had a day of hanging out with friends; it was really a laid back, relaxing and much needed day before we got back into the swing. Sadie had some great updates medically (see her site if interested) and is getting back into the swing of the school routine. Syrah is doing well, bummed that her sister is back at school; she misses her during the day. Billy finished up all his work on the Suncadia job and is now getting all geared up for his next assignment in Seattle (yeah, local!). I have been kinda re-battling some health stuff, but think I am on the mend and looking forward to being at full speed by the weekend.

We created this site because we though it would be fun to have a place to share with our family and friends what's happening in the Jordan household! We look forward to sharing updates to things going on with us and we hope that you will leave us your comments!
